It appears things on are going well for most printing businesses according to a recent report found on WhatTheyThink.com. The shipping data shows that printing companies were rebounding the tail end of 2014. Although things still aren’t what they were in 2010, the data did show that the month of december alone was 3.7% up above december 2013.
Overall, Q4 was up 1.3% over Q4 of last year. That tidbit may justify how busy some of you may have been in December. Quite the spike in the data.
Some of the rebound in the fourth quarter may have been the benefit of highly contentious local and regional political campaigns. The extent of that effect may not be known for some time, but the strong December shipments implies that local retail and holiday shopping promotions may have played a significant positive role. Recent economic reports state that small businesses, overall, had a much better fourth quarter. These were from the NFIB survey, and two Gallup surveys, one conducted with Sam’s Club and the other with Wells Fargo, as well as an increase inproprietor’s income in the recent GDP report.
